Discover some of the competitive advantages of the municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"azul wp-block-heading\"><strong>Skilled human capital\/talent<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oeiras has a high concentration of skilled human capital, with an average percentage of resident population with higher education well above the national average and the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon. In 2017, 22% of the students enrolled in Higher Education establishments located in the Municipality of Oeiras attended a master&#8217;s degree course and 6.6% a PhD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"azul wp-block-heading\">Office and business park infrastructures<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The municipality has a vast set of business parks, with suitable conditions to welcome companies and allow the development of their activity. Among them are Taguspark; Archiparque; Lagoas Park and Quinta da Fonte. More than 24 thousand people work in these four parks combined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"azul wp-block-heading\">Research Centres<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The council already functions as a real Research and Development&nbsp;<em>hub<\/em>, being home to several research centres. An example of this is the Gulbenkian Institute of Science, which focuses on biological and biomedical research, innovative postgraduate training and the transformation of society through science. Another example is the ITQB NOVA &#8211; Institute of Chemical and Biological Technology Ant\u00f3nio Xavier. It is an institute of scientific research and advanced training of the New University of Lisbon. Also noteworthy are the iBET and the INIAV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"azul wp-block-heading\"><strong>Proximity to Lisbon airport<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Municipality has a fantastic location, due to its proximity to Lisbon. The journey to Lisbon airport takes only a few minutes. The good accessibility and the excellent transport network are some of the competitive advantages of Oeiras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"azul wp-block-heading\"><strong>Unique mix of global companies, networks, R&amp;D and universities<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oeiras is a lively municipality, where educational and research institutions and the business fabric are interconnected. The companies established here benefit from this networking provided by the innovation ecosystem that exists in Oeiras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"azul wp-block-heading\"><strong>Quality of life <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In terms of quality of life, Oeiras brings together a set of factors that position it as one of the best counties for living and working. The municipality has been focusing on the regeneration of public spaces in order to continue to be a leader in quality of life: more bicycle paths, more transports within the county, more green spaces and a focus on the teaching of technology in schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"azul wp-block-heading\"><strong>Investment support infrastructures and policies<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No totalIn total, the municipality plans to invest, by 2026, close to 400 million euros in the enhancement of the economy, education, housing, environment and territorial intelligence. The objective is to position the municipality as one of the main driving forces of the economic, social and human development of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. In this regard, the City Council has the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cm-oeiras.pt\/pt\/municipio\/camara-municipal\/organograma\/Paginas\/gpi.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Investment Promotion Office<\/a>, whose mission is to monitor all forms of investment in the municipality, being responsible for boosting local entrepreneurship and attracting new investments.
