The researchers are the only scientists in Portugal to join the list of new EMBO members.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.embo.org\/press-releases\/embo-announces-64-newly-elected-members\/\">EMBO &#8211; excellence in life sciences<\/a>&nbsp;has selected researchers In\u00eas Cardoso Pereira and Karina Xavier to join the institution. The European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) is the most prestigious European organisation in life sciences and the election of the researchers once again certifies the top research developed in the Municipality of Oeiras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\u00eas Cardoso Pereira leads the Bacterial Energy Metabolism Laboratory at the Institute of Chemical and Biological Technology Ant\u00f3nio Xavier at Nova University Lisbon (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itqb.unl.pt\/\">ITQB NOVA<\/a>) and Karina Xavier is the principal investigator of the Bacterial Signalling group at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ci\u00eancia (<a href=\"https:\/\/gulbenkian.pt\/ciencia\/pt-pt\/\">IGC<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Karina Xavier &#8220;it is a great honour to be nominated&#8221; and the invitation \u201cis a great opportunity, which will allow us to grow the network of collaboration with scientists from all over the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\u00eas Cardoso Pereira speaks of the opportunity to be part of &#8220;an organisation that brings together top researchers in the area of life sciences&#8221;, highlighting the honour and pride she feels in joining scientists whom she admires greatly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two researchers from the two scientific research institutions in Oeiras are the only scientists in Portugal to join the list of new EMBO members in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In\u00eas Cardoso Pereira, vice-director of ITQB NOVA, and Karina Xavier, principal investigator of the IGC, were chosen to join EMBO \u2013 the European Molecular Biology Organization.
