The Municipality of Oeiras has approved a Memorandum of Understanding with NOVA University of Lisbon (UNL) to support the project Rede ¼ (Network 1/4).
This project seeks to increase the supply of affordable housing for university students, particularly in the municipalities in which the UNL has campuses, by providing rooms in public and private housing, thus optimizing the existing housing capacity.
With housing and education as strategic priorities, the municipality will contribute to this project with a financial input of € 14,469.32 and is also committed to promoting it among potential partners and social agents in order to maximize its social and economic impact.
This project comes as a response to the growing struggle university students face to find affordable housing in the Lisbon metropolitan area. The project Rede ¼ is meant not only to increase the supply of affordable housing for students, but also to contribute to social cohesion and improve the quality of life of the students and the families that host them.
