In Oeiras there is Science, there are scientists and, in October, there will be an event that will mark the Science agenda in Portugal: the first annual science festival to be organised in our country – the FIC.A.
The International Science Festival (FIC.A) will take place between 12 and 17 October at Palácio Marquês de Pombal, in Oeiras. Professor and Deputy Alexandre Quintanilha is the ambassador of this initiative, organised in partnership with the Municipality of Oeiras, the main funder of this project, which expects to receive more than 40 thousand participants.
The FIC.A will bring together hundreds of scientists, engineers, mathematicians, comedians, writers, artists and other science enthusiasts to explore the world of science together. The event has been curated by a group of experts from various sectors, from agronomy to artificial intelligence, who were invited to contribute to the design of the festival programme.
The event already has more than 700 scheduled activities – including debates, lectures, exhibitions, shows, concerts, workshops and other formats – and has more than 200 speakers from over 25 countries.
This initiative forms part of the Oeiras Science and Technology Strategy, and aims to create an event unprecedented in Portugal, which will represent a seminal occasion at national and European level.
