
In the list of the 10 best state schools in the Lisbon district, four are in the municipality of Oeiras, according to the national rankings published.
According to the interactive ranking of primary and secondary schools ordered according to the averages in the 2019 national exams, Miraflores Secondary School, Prof. José Augusto Lucas Secondary School, in Linda-a-Velha, Sebastião e Silva Secondary School and Quinta do Marquês Secondary School, in Oeiras, share the top 10 with six other state schools in the municipality of Lisbon.
Miraflores Secondary School came in 4th place, Prof. José Augusto Lucas Secondary School in 7th place and Sebastião e Silva Secondary School and Quinta do Marquês Secondary School came in 9th and 10th place respectively.
On a national level, these four schools in the Oeiras municipality are among the 46 best state schools in the country, particularly the Miraflores Secondary School, which came in 21st place.
“Oeiras has set itself the goal of having the best schools and the best students in the country. Since 2017, it has developed an intense collaboration with all school groups in the development of their educational projects”, emphasises Pedro Patacho, Education Councillor of Oeiras City Council, in a statement.
The results, he added, reflect the “excellent work of teachers and students” and also the “unprecedented investment” of the municipality in state education, through technological modernisation, the implementation of diverse educational resources, support for pedagogical innovation, the financing of complementary curricular activities, the continuous training of teachers and the requalification of school spaces, among many other initiatives.
