The newspaper PÚBLICO and the University of Lisbon launch a challenge for doctorate students at the University.
“Tell us your science” is an initiative that promotes the exchange between research and the citizens. Held by the University of Lisbon in partnership with the newspaper PÚBLICO, this initiative offers students the opportunity to share with the readers a text about their research.
In order to participate, the students just have to send a text that matches the following two criteria: a maximum of 3000 characters including spaces and a highlighted opening sentence with a maximum of 200 characters. A picture of the author, their affiliation and an image of their research must accompany the text. The goal is to share why the science they do is important for all citizens.
The initiative runs in parallel with the 3-Minute Thesis competition (3MT), also supported by the newspaper PÚBLICO and by FLAD – the Luso-American Development Foundation. In this project, PhD students have the opportunity to present their research concisely and engagingly in just three minutes. The final will take place on May 30, at the National Museum of Natural History and Science in the University of Lisbon.
Both the ‘Tell us your science’ initiative and the ‘3-Minute Thesis’ competition intend to foster scientific dissemination by giving PhD students from the University of Lisbon the opportunity to talk about their work.
