The cross-regional urban network «Anchor Cities for the Blue Economy» has been approved after applying for EU funding. This network is directed towards the development of urban regeneration studies and projects in the municipalities of Oeiras, Aveiro, Lagoa, Peniche, Portimão, Sines and Viana do Castelo.
In collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research, the University of Minho, the Fórum Oceano – Association for the Economy of the Sea and Sines Tecnopolo – Vasco da Gama Association and Incubation Centre for Technology-based companies, these municipalities have joined together in a consortium to build and implement the strategy and action plan for the «Anchor Cities for the Blue Economy» urban network.
In Oeiras, the application includes the ‘Acceleration Program’, which will have Fórum Oceano and Escola Superior Náutica Infante D. Henrique (Portuguese National Maritime college) – ENIDH as partners.
