What do companies like LG, Google and Cisco all have in common? They are all multinational. They all belong to the technology industry. And they have also chosen Oeiras to set up their head offices or centres of innovation in Portugal.
LG, the South Korean multinational, is one of the firms that recently relocated. The opening ceremony of the company’s new head office took place on 9 July in Taguspark. At the time, according to New in Oeiras, the company’s CEO of Iberian operations emphasised the conditions on offer at Taguspark as a crucial factor in choosing Oeiras to set up the multinational’s Portuguese head office. “We are market leaders in each of the sectors we operate in and, as a result of this excellent performance, we believe that it made sense to set up home in the country’s top business centre”, explained Jaime de Jaraíz.
In attendance at this ceremony was the Mayor of Oeiras, Isaltino Morais, Eduardo Correia, CEO of Taguspark S.A., the South Korean Ambassador, Mr. Song Oh, among other figures.
Following this inauguration, LG is now the first company to take up residence in the renovated Inovação I building at Taguspark Spanning over 4,000 square metres, this building represents the new phase of Taguspark, enabling it to attract new business..
This change also strengthens Oeiras’ position to become the largest nursery for innovation and technology in the country. This is the mission of the Oeiras Valley project, which seeks to set up an ecosystem for innovation in the municipality, encouraging technology firms to set up in the region.
