Created in 2004, Oeiras Solidária is a programme that is a reference in the area of social responsibility in Portugal and has obtained several distinctions over the years.
Promoted by the Oeiras City Council, this programme works as an innovative networking platform that promotes and streamlines collaboration between organisations from various sectors. The mission of this programme is to involve companies located in the municipality in the community.
Oeiras is a municipality with a strong business dynamics, hosting more than 24 thousand companies in the territory. Why not involve these companies in the community and develop actions that contribute to the sustainability of the municipality?
“Because we believe that everyone’s contribution is very relevant to local socio-economic development and the Oeiras Solidária Programme (POS) has sought to create opportunities for local agents to participate in the sustainable development of the territory. The POS has sought to enhance the proximity between local agents, in the promotion of volunteering activities, in the provision of goods, services and logistical support, in training or financial support, among other initiatives”, explain those responsible for the project on the Oeiras Solidária Portal.
At the end of 2019, the Oeiras Solidária Programme had a network of 164 partners. Companies and entities that want to be part of this programme can do so in this area of the project’s portal.
The Oeiras Solidária Network supports community in fighting the pandemic
In the current context of fighting the pandemic, several partners of the Oeiras Solidária Network have developed initiatives to support the citizens and institutions of Oeiras. Whether it be by donating face protection visors, the provision of foodstuffs, the provision and treatment of bath and bed linen, the treatment of personal clothing for the temporary reception centre in Paço de Arcos, or the provision of foodstuffs to support people who are without isolation and the elderly. Several partners of the Oeiras Solidária Network also decided to support health professionals and frontline agents in the fight against the current pandemic, providing food products and support appliances, meals and snacks and gym supplies.
