Those travelling within the municipality of Oeiras can opt for the free transport offered by the Oeiras City Council: the Combus.
This service of urban public transport routes between civil parishes in the municipality of Oeiras was initially created to serve the elderly and unemployed population of the municipality and works as an addition to the public transport network already existing in the municipality.
After a four-year break, this transport service was resumed at the beginning of the mandate and has been progressively extended. The goal is that by the end of this year the entire territory will be covered by this service.
In total, four buses are circulating in the municipality, which carry out the following routes:
- Algés-Linda a Velha – Cruz Quebrada – Dafundo Route
- Oeiras Route
Starting next 2 March, Combus will start a new route, with two new buses circulating:
- Paço de Arcos – Caxias Route
These buses run from Monday to Friday, between 8.30am and 7.00pm, with a frequency of 90 in 90 minutes.
By the end of December, Combus will also reach the civil parishes of Carnaxide and Queixas and, finally, Barcarena and Porto Salvo.
The expansion of the Combus service requires an investment in the expansion of the fleet. These new vehicles are prepared to transport people with reduced mobility; they have USB ports for all seats.
In total, the municipality plans to invest around two million euros in this service, following the municipality’s strategy to ensure better mobility conditions.
Note of 21/05/2020:
In the current context of the pandemic and following the measures of the social deconfinement plan, the circulation of COMBUS remains, with the use of a mask being mandatory and adapting its capacity to 2/3 of the capacity.
